X-Linked Recessive

A pattern of inheritance in which an affected individual has two copies of a mutated gene on the X-chromosome. For X-X engendered females, the rules of X-Linked recessive inheritance are the same as autosomal recessive inheritance. For X-Y engendered males, because they have only one X-chromosome, their one and only copy of the associated gene has a mutation and having only one copy of the X-Linked gene is sufficient to cause the related X-linked recessive condition; and they will pass this onto each of their daughters, but none of their sons.
