VUS

The acronym for Variant of Unknown Significance. A variation in a genetic sequence for which the association with disease risk is unclear. Also called unclassified variant, variant of uncertain significance, and VUS.
As this pertains to CMT, a CMT genetic test result will sometimes identify a mutation in a gene – a variant, whose significance is unknown, meaning that the mutation has not yet been linked to causing CMT.
