Foot-Drop
or
Drop-Foot
Dropping of the front of the foot due to weakness or paralysis of the anterior muscles of the lower leg. Foot drop results in a steppage gait.
Foot drop, also called drop foot, is very common in CMT and is typically treated through assistive devices such as AFO’s that are designed to assist with picking up the front of the foot. CMTers who have foot drop often trip and stumble when walking due to the toes catching.
